         In my previous post I gave an overview of the two sides responding to the new Netflix series "13 Reasons Why." I talked about how I recommend people respond to the topics involved whether they choose to watch the show or not and how teens need to talk about these issues with their parents. The show could be a catalyst for positive change no matter what side you fall on, because just by people discussing whether the show is appropriate gets them talking about the issues at hand, namely suicide, bullying and sexual assault.    This is post is going a little more into which side of the argument I fall on and why. Some people say watch it, some say don't watch it or don't let your kids watch it. Here are the sides: Argument 1) This show is too graphic and 'glorifies' suicide** Argument 2) This show depicts challenges teens face in a way they can relate to and can open doors to conversations. If you go with argument 1: You may have children who are too young for this content so that's a good choice, you may have a child dealing with these issues and you know their personality so you make a choice not to feed into that or you may be the kind of person who is going to try to shelter your child. But just be careful if you shelter them at some point they will get the info themselves so if you don't jump on that soon, they may get it from a less reliable source than you. I used to be like many girls enjoying shopping with their friends or alone. I loved buying new clothes and new things. I spent the majority of my paychecks or any other income on new things for my closet or bedroom. It became something ugly though when I did not have enough money left for things that mattered more to me like going out, bigger ticket items or gifts for family members. In the worst moments I did not have enough money for things like groceries, bills or the mounding credit card debt. I started to feel guilty whenever I spent too much money or purchased something I did not really need, but I could not stop. I love pretty things, I love having new clothes and I love the fun experience of getting something new. It makes me feel alive, until I get home and have to put it all away in my overflowing closets. I recently discovered a great new app and site called Influenster. Basically if you are a blogger, social media frequenter and good at reviews you can use this app to try new products. Once you get enough points for making good reviews they send you a box of a product to try. My first box was zzzquil. I've found the adult version of video games for women, it's planners. I guess I never realized this before because I was one of those girls who actually plays real video games, but if there is a "female" equivalent to an addictive activity that sucks up all your time and social life while pretending to bring you productivity and friends (my very harsh definition for video games) it's planners. I should note that this is using generic terms, obviously not all women like planners and as in my case many like video games, but there is a trend for many guys to play video games late into adulthood and their women counterparts sometimes don't get it.  Video games seem like a waste of time, and who really cares if you build your base and reach level 160? You can make it as healthy as you want by making additional changes, but the below recipe has already been tested and tried by my non-health concerned husband who loves waffles and only cares about taste.
