Intro to Twitter Promotion For Noobs

Twitter is another networking site (in case you didn’t notice because you live under a rock or something) that is sweeping the nation, but just like with anything free and popular, people will find a way to make it monetarily valuable. Within seconds writers can promote their latest book or article and reach all their fans, artists can tweet when their concerts are coming out and businesses can use tweets to update followers whenever a new product is released. You can even use it to land a job by tweeting your interview questions and having all your friends answer them for you. I can't recall how many times I have been asked, “If your friends could describe you in three words, what would they say?” Well if you wait one minute for me to tweet that, I’ll tell you exactly what they’d say.

   Last, but not least, stars can use twitter for unintentional or intentional publicity stunts. The most recent and memorable is Billy Joe Armstrong’s tweet about getting kicked off his flight for having too saggy of pants. All he had to do was cuss and complain and boom, millions of tweeters viewing his post boosted the popularity enough for it to reach the daytime news. Honestly, with a war going on here do we really care which star has an attitude problem? Is that really news? Any normal person would be too embarrassed to ever repeat that story, but Billy Joe Armstrong uses it to get free publicity and perks from the Airlines who promptly apologized and boarded him. If only all belligerent passengers could receive the same treatment. Sigh.
