Let it Go

Image
Forgetting the past is different than letting go Forgetting tries to ignore having thoughts about the past in order to avoid negative emotions that might come with remembrance Letting go is accepting what happened Forgiving those who were involved or to blame  Choosing not to do well in anger or sadness even if the situation allowed you to have a right to feel that way Deciding to take what you can and learn from the situation Or at the very least exciting you would never make the same mistake again Or if it was something that was done to you you can use that situation for good by being an influence and help others You can be a advocate for people who experience the same pages you You can spread important information and support for others who may not be aware You can use the memory of past pain to inspire you to be a better person And to determine what kind of character you want to develop Forgetting never faces the fax and never allows the pe...

A introduction to my blog Venus voyager : January 27th 2012 In addition to this blog I also have a travel blog on Tumblr called Venus Voyager Girl. Here's what it's all about. Netflix for Clothes! Review of Le tote and Couture Squared

Image
Recently I stumbled upon two ingenious websites and I had to try them out. http://letote.com/r/D45B39 They are clothing rental sites that lend out an "unlimited" number of clothes to girls for a monthly fee. It's like Netflix, but with clothes and no live streaming (due to the disappointing #fail of science to create teleportation yet).  Anyway, awesome idea right? The sites are done really well to let you customize your selection. Just like Netflix quizzes you on which movies you like to give your suggestions, they give a quiz to see which clothes fit you and your style best. How it works: - You pay a monthly fee between $30-50. - You set up a customized style profile. - Based on that profile they send you 4-6 items of clothing and/or accessories. (Sadly those clothes/accessories are not necessarily paired to match or create a complete outfit. They want you to have to mix them with your own clothes) - You wear the items (don't ri...

Vaping Dangerous?

Image
written Sept 9, 2018 "The more I Vape, the less I desire to smoke cigarettes" said customer at Vader Vapor in La Mesa, California.  If vaping helps you quit smoking it is far more beneficial for you, but if you can avoid smoking and vaping that is ideal. We do not know enough yet to know whether vaping is horrible for you, but in general anything going into your lungs over an over can't be ideal. There are debates as to whether it is really that bad for you compared to anything else you may be doing on a regular basis, but without the comparison just by itself it isn't great. If you must smoke something vape may be the safest for your lungs, but smoking nothing is much preferred for your health.  I asked chat gpt if vaping is bad for you and this is what it said:  Yes, vaping can be harmful to your health. While it's often marketed as a safer alternative to smoking, research indicates that vaping poses several health risks: Nicotine Addiction : Many e-cigarettes c...

A Funny, yet Honest, Only Sometimes Brutal and Mostly Lovely Review on Attending the CATESOL Conference in San Diego

Image
Regional CATESOL Conference This Saturday 10/10/15, I attended the CATESOL conference in San Diego at the Educational Cultural Complex (A San Diego Continuing Education Campus) and was able to explore the various exhibits as well as hear the Key note speaker Deborah Gordon present on Multi-word vocabulary. The lecture by Deborah was refreshingly practical and did not contain the usual lengthy intellectual theories explained with 5 syllable words, as other lectures I’ve attended have had. I enjoyed it when she gave a list of 8 myths of vocabulary teaching, which were borrowed from Keith False’s book “Vocabulary Myths: Applying Second Language Research to Classroom Teaching.” I was happy to hear that several of the suggestions, based on the myths, were things I am already doing in my classroom. For example one myth was that you should avoid using the native language when teaching vocabulary and avoid vocabulary lists. Well in my class I often use lists which compare the E...

From First Year Teacher to Best Teacher Ever! How Can it Be Done? So you just started, or are about to start your first teaching job and you want to do everything you can to help your students. You’ve learned how to give assessments and use them to drive instruction, the basics of classroom management, how to teach each subject and differentiate for special needs and individual learning styles, you even learned a variety of activities or organization ideas that you want to implement. How do you synthesize this learning now and put it towards actually teaching? But wait, you don’t just want to do the minimum and rely only on what you have learned in school. No, you want to be a great teacher, the best teacher! You want students to be engaged in every lesson, to have fun learning even traditionally “dull” subjects, to love learning and become lifelong learners! You want your students to understand math concepts, not just memorize algorithms. You want students to use acade...
