Was 2014 when Disney decided to stop putting effort into films for Children?

A brief rant of my opinion of the 1999 Annie film vs the 2014 version A Cherished Classic You know what was great about the 1999 Disney rendition of the Broadway show Annie, which I can’t say about the 2014 Disney film rendition of Annie? Well in 1999 Disney thought children deserved to be cultured and be introduced to an authentic Broadway play. Someone in charge also thought that children are smart enough to understand and enjoy the play even if it uses some outdated words that children don't hear anymore or words that might be confusing. Words such as, what is a “Mickey Finn?" I still don't know to this day, but I still enjoyed that movie and I felt cultured. It was as if literature and art were appreciated even if some parents might not agree with children singing about spiked drinks (okay I just googled it) . Alas not every kid had an iPhone to google “mickey finn” in those days. I cherish those simpler times. However, by 2014 they decided children are stupid and ...
